Thunder of Drums is a drum and bugle corps competition, each having 12 minutes to present their show. This includes music, choreography, marching, props, and flags. Once all corps have performed, they will be judged on their performances, and a winner will be announced.
My school was asked to create a brochure, flyer, and poster for the 31st event of Thunder of Drums. Our class made it into a sort of competition, and my design was chosen by the Kiwanis Club! There were many revisions to be made, and the examples you see are the final revisions for the event. This project was super fun and a great experience working with real clients. It was nice to get a feel for how it would be in the working industry. I got my color scheme from their logo and tried to portray as much information as possible without overwhelming it. Many sponsors also needed to be displayed, so it took quite some time to develop ways of fitting them together. Almost like a jigsaw puzzle!

This project was made in Adobe InDesign.
Cannon River Watershed Joint Powers Organization contacted my school, asking us to re-draw their logo, and they chose mine. This is what I had come up with for them. Initially, I had the Minnesota state outline, but they wanted it changed to the outline of their watershed, so that is what I did for them.
After the final design had been sent to the client, they contacted me again, wanting to send me something. They sent me this engraved stainless steel cup (see below)—seeing something I designed in a real-world situation on a cup meant so much to me. It's so cool to hold something you've made physically.
